The Amite City Historical Commission is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich heritage and genealogy of Amite City and surrounding areas, supporting research and education through archives, narratives, and community engagement.



The Amite City Historical Commission was formed in 2023 for the purpose of preserving and promoting historical and genealogical information about the Town of Amite City, Louisiana, and the nearby area.
The goals of the Commission are to develop, collect, and maintain electronic as well as paper documents, photographs, and materials related to events, sites, individual and group activities, and other relevant materials. The Commission shall help promote research into and preservation of historical sites, artifacts, structures and points of interest in and near Amite City, Louisiana, and shall promote education related to local and potentially regional history and support and participate in events, programs, classes, lectures, and other activities as possible and appropriate.
